Privacy

This policy explains what personal information I collect through shannonkatemurray.com, what I do with it and the rights you have over it.

Who I am

This website is run by Shannon Kate Murray, a sole trader based in Essex, UK. I'm the data controller for any personal information collected through this site, which means I decide how it's used and I'm responsible for looking after it.

If you have any questions about this policy or your information, email me at hello@highflyingdesign.com.

What I collect

I only collect what I need to reply to you and work with you.

  • When you fill in my waitlist or contact form: your first and last name, email address, the service you're interested in, anything you tell me about your business, how you found me and when you'd like to start.

  • When you email me: your name, email address and whatever you include in your message.

  • If we work together: the details needed to run the project and invoice you, such as your business name, address and the content you send me for your website.

  • When you visit the site: basic information about your visit, such as the pages you looked at, the type of device and browser you used and roughly where you are in the world. This is collected through cookies (see below) and doesn't tell me who you are.

Why I use it

UK data protection law says I need a lawful reason for each use of your information. Here's what I use it for and the reason that applies.

  • Replying to your enquiry and keeping your place on my waitlist. Lawful basis: steps you've asked me to take before we agree to work together.

  • Running your project and invoicing you. Lawful basis: performing our contract.

  • Keeping business and tax records. Lawful basis: legal obligation, as HMRC requires me to keep financial records.

  • Understanding how people use my site so I can improve it. Lawful basis: your consent, given through the cookie banner.

I won't add you to a mailing list unless you ask me to, and I'll never sell your information.

Who I share it with

I only share your information with the services I use to run my business, and only what they need to do their job.

  • Squarespace, which hosts this website, stores form submissions and provides the site's visitor statistics.

Some of these services store data outside the UK, including in the US. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

I'll only share your information with anyone else if the law requires me to.

How long I keep it

  • Waitlist and enquiry details, if we don't go on to work together: 12 months from our last contact.

  • Client project details and emails: for the length of the project, then 12 months after it ends.

  • Invoices and financial records: at least five years after the 31 January Self Assessment deadline for that tax year, as HMRC requires.

You can ask me to delete your details sooner at any time, unless I need to keep them for tax reasons.

Cookies

Cookies are small files saved by your browser when you visit a website.

This site uses two kinds. Essential cookies keep the site working and secure, so they're always on. Analytics cookies tell me how people find and use the site, and they're only set if you accept them in the cookie banner.

You can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings link at the bottom of the page, or by clearing cookies in your browser. Squarespace's own cookie policy lists the exact cookies it uses.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you can ask me to:

  • give you a copy of the information I hold about you

  • correct anything that's wrong or out of date

  • delete your information

  • limit how I use it, or stop using it altogether

  • send it to you, or to someone else, in a format you can use

  • withdraw any consent you've given, such as for analytics cookies

Just email me at hello@highflyingdesign.com. It's free, and I'll reply within one month.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please tell me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

If I change how I use your information, I'll update this page and the date at the top. This version was last updated on 2 November 2026.
